Student Teachers Demonstrate Knowledge, Skills

Exhibits Reveal Impact on PK-12 Students

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Student teachers and interns gathered on the third floor of UNO’s College of Education and Human Development to exhibit samples of the work that they are currently performing in their classrooms. The exhibits were primarily triptych in form, though many of the exhibits were enhanced by computer media and three dimensional manipulatives. Approximately 40 student teachers presented their work, which represented every content area, from Early Childhood to Secondary Education.

Both organizers and observers agreed that the presenters had obviously poured a great deal of care and effort into the creation of the displays. Helene Derbigny, the Director of Field Experiences, was especially thrilled by the results, as was Assistant Dean Martha Blanchard .

Many faculty members were on hand, along with other teacher candidates and staff members. Dr. Kyle Scafide, the Director of Unit Effectiveness for the college, was especially impressed.

"I'm very proud of all of our candidates," he said. "These are the teachers who are going to make a difference in our community."

The event took place from 3 - 5 p.m. in the hallways surrounding the third floor computer resource rooms.
